Many students have wondered "a set of excellent Collection of Art Studied Abroad Do you need strong professional support? " "If you don't have any artistic background or foundation, is it difficult to apply to an excellent art school?" For these problems, today we have 7 years Maryland College of the Arts MICA Trevor Amery, an experienced admissions consultant, will give you an answer.

        About MICA Admissions Officer of Maryland:

He is MICA with 7 years of senior experience/ Maryland College of the Arts Former admissions consultant; He is a master of pure arts from UC San Diego; He is MICA Maryland College of Art Painting Bachelor's degree; He is a Fulbright scholar; He is also a sculptor and visual artist.

        Review criteria for overseas works of Maryland Academy of Arts:

He gave this answer: "Strictly speaking, students' professional skills are very important, but this does not mean that professional skills are the most important in the creation process of overseas art works. It is also very important for students to be able to show his/her ideas through the collection of works and tell everyone who sees the collection of works what kind of ideas and ideas he/she is trying to convey. ".

In the process of reviewing the portfolio by the admissions officer, everyone was happy to see a student with strong hands-on ability and professional skills. However, as an experienced admissions officer, Trevor does not recommend that students rely too much on their own hands-on ability and executive ability. When students rely too much on these, it often backfires, limiting their own developmental (creative) thinking.

Although most of the admissions officers hope to see that students have skilled professional skills in the process of reviewing the portfolio, at the same time, The admissions officers pay more attention to the ideas conveyed by students in their works, what they are doing, what content projects they have, and what problems they hope to solve.

In Trevor's eyes, for a student:“ It is more important to be willing to accept failure and have confidence than to have only one set of beautiful works. Because for the admissions officers, they can't see the students' ideas and the process of promotion. They can only see what the students have mastered. Therefore, how to express your ideas and ambitions through the collection of works is more important than the apparent simplicity, beauty and refinement of the collection of works ".

  Performance/interactive installation

  dimensions vary

Materials used - cloth, wire, zipper, velcro, alarm clock, display cloth, etc;

This work is a performance art that goes against the normal behavior of human beings. It is also a bold experiment launched by Trevor in his own name. During the opening of the gallery exhibition, Trevor randomly placed a sleeping bag and an alarm clock on the exhibition site. He lay down and took a nap in the middle of the site for 20 minutes. During the whole process, people kept walking around him, stopping or taking photos. After the performance art, Trevor left the sleeping bag and alarm clock at the exhibition site for other visitors to use.

Deconstruct the sculpture "giant" × space creation

(ONE Activity - Trevor × Kara × Chris)

   two thousand and eighteen

  Fine Art/sculpture/Installation art

Materials used - rope, plastic, glass, paper, wood, tape, various materials;

Sculpture is not only "simple", but also uses "simple" metal materials. Cardboard, cloth, wood, wires, newspapers, magazines and various personal items can all become materials for sculpture creation.

Sculpture is definitely not limited to one kind of material. It can be a combination of multiple materials, or it can be an installation with film, television and sound effects. Any unexpected combination you want may become a match in sculpture. Even our own bodies can become materials for sculpture creation. Deconstruct the sculpture "giant", break through the boundary between performance art, installation and image, and let different art forms span and integrate. This workshop was jointly led by Trevor, Kara and Chris, three admissions officers.
