CCS American College of Creative Design

CCS we mentioned earlier( American College of Creative Design )It is famous for its traffic design. It is located in Detroit, the center of the American automobile industry. It has powerful brand resources and gathers elite talents. With a history of 55 years, CCS alumni are among the best in major automobile design companies, studios and almost all first-class automobile suppliers.

Speaking of this, I have to mention one person. That is Henry Ford, the founder of GM Group with many brands. He founded the automobile assembly line, which greatly improved the efficiency of automobile production and reduced costs. The model T produced at a high speed and in a standardized way quickly became a popular model.

Henry Ford's industry has achieved great success, attracting countless people to join the automotive design industry in Detroit where he lives. Detroit began its golden age as a world famous automobile city.

MFA graduates majoring in CCS traffic design will become innovators in automobile design and mobility, always focusing on the future. Traffic design is located in Tubman center campus, which was the historical Argonaut Building, the first research and design center of GE, and also the birthplace of countless legendary designs.

On the basis of art and creativity, the MFA project of traffic design will link the elite talents of design and engineering disciplines to jointly study the invention and innovation of traffic design.

As a world famous automobile design institute, CCS has a unique teaching system. The most famous full-time teacher is Kuni. Every ccs student will experience his basic courses. Also, Viscom3 (sketch+rendering techniques), taught by exterior designers from General Cadillac, is a favorite course for students. In addition, Paul Hoste graduated from the University of Cincinnati and is now a design star in FCA.

 CCS traffic design works

Graduation works of CCS traffic design students

CCS closely follows the trend of sustainable development and launches the electric vehicle design and research course on the course. The theme will be related to today's rapidly changing culture and technological society.

1. The design projects assigned by the Type II, III and IV Postgraduate Studios of Transportation Design have the same structure, but their complexity and duration are different.

Assigning formal structured design projects to students requires substantive research (supplemented by the Contextual Design Research course), prototype or concept development, followed by concept/design improvement, and completion of design demonstration and reflection.

Collection requirements:

1. Upload the traffic design portfolio project to communicate your technical and design expertise and problem-solving skills. Note: The portfolio includes a large number of original sketches and/or additional sketches.

2. The traffic design portfolio should include at least 3-4 design projects, including academic, personal and professional. The collection of traffic design works should show a high level of critical thinking, creative conceptualization and visual communication.

3. All projects must clearly represent all stages of the design process - including project introduction, research, target market development, concept conception, development, and final presentation and model - in a smooth, clear, systematic and graphical manner.

4. The works submitted to CCS should demonstrate your technical creation skills, including accurate perspective freehand sketch, the use of Photoshop and Alias - or other 2D/3D modeling and rendering software (the whole process of SU modeling tutorial). Include a large number of original process sketches and/or separate sketches as PDF attachment slides, or if necessary, mail or email to the Graduate Admissions Office.

ACCD Art Center School of Design

As we all know, ACCD has two trump specialties: "transportation design" and "entertainment design". Today, let's analyze its transportation design.

As a specialty that has been established for 70 years, ACCD Transportation Design has created landmark automobile styles in different periods. Of course, in addition to automobile design, students' creative fields also cover motorcycles, yachts, commercial trucks, trains, aircraft, spacecraft, etc., and they have covered the appearance and interior design of major equipment.

ACCD Art Center School of Design

The transportation of ACCD pays more attention to the sustainable development of design and brand inheritance, and is committed to creating a lifestyle in the new century. On the basis of balancing shape and function, explore the possibility of improving personality and performance and spreading social influence.

The major of transportation design is a combination of science and technology and industry. If you can design, you should also be able to express. Colleges and universities favor works with design concepts that are full of future scientific and technological significance and sustainability. If they have solid foundation, they will have the opportunity to enter the gallery of the school and be exhibited.

The major is divided into three directions: vehicle appearance, vehicle interior (including user interface and user experience), alternative transportation (including motorcycle, yacht, aircraft, personal mobile equipment and public transport design)

ACCD Graduation Exhibition of Transportation Design

ACCD Transport Design 2019 Spring Graduation Exhibition

ACCD Industrial Design MFA is a six semester course. In the first semester, we mainly study the system architecture and product development of vehicles and transportation; The second semester's courses mainly focus on the future scene development and interactive design; The third and fourth semesters mainly study urban form and system design; The last two semesters are to prepare the thesis and graduation design.

Collection requirements:

1. The core collection of works should be as professional and creative as possible, showing enthusiasm and desire for future transportation development.

2. At least 4-5 projects need to be submitted when applying, which should be sketches of different vehicle design concepts as far as possible. The project should include the title, project objectives, research, development process, and final sketches. In addition, other product design works (such as interior design) can also be submitted.

3. In addition, you need to submit an additional Portfolio Video Essay: tell the story behind the creation of one of your projects with a 2-minute video.

Video content: original intention of the work, brief description of the creation process, description of advantages and improvements, etc.

RCA Royal College of Art

When it comes to German cars, everyone's first reaction is Mercedes Benz. After all, as the inventor of cars, Mercedes Benz has changed the way people travel. Especially after Gordon Wagner, the design director, took office in 2008, he redefined the design language of Mercedes Benz - sensory purity.

Gordon Wagner graduated from RCA with a major in traffic design. He wrote new Mercedes Benz models such as the new CLS, E-Class and the second generation SLK.

 RCA Royal College of Art

RCA's vehicle design represents the highest level of vehicle design in the UK. The specialty is also one of the best in the world, which is one of the advantages of RCA.

With a teaching history of more than 40 years, this major of RCA not only has research on the sustainability of vehicle design, emotional relationship with consumers, information transmission, and recyclability, but also is committed to developing future vehicles and solving environmental problems.

At present, this major has three directions:

1. Automark: mainly study the relationship between end users and vehicles, and study vehicles in the commercial context

2. Inside Out: mainly design with emerging materials, and pay attention to production process and modeling design

3. Urban Flow: mainly solve urban traffic problems and infrastructure construction

 RCA Royal College of Art

RCA's transportation curriculum is special. It is not only to train students' drawing skills and modeling ability, but also to study the innovative design of urban mobility and mobility and the future world, and to improve the design of urban vehicles and systems.

In the course stage, students need to constantly challenge a series of work review conferences. The participants include teachers, students and current designers. Through these multi-level cross discussions, they can better understand the value of transportation design.

Collection requirements:

1. The collection of automobile design works needs to show strong thinking development ability, and needs a large number of design sketches to support their own ideas. It is necessary to demonstrate from research to concept to initial sketch and then to final rendering.

2. Each applicant who has received the interview notice needs to complete an independent topic.

Combined with their own project background, identify their own target groups, analyze the causes of this phenomenon, and form an initial research page. After that, we will carry out the extensibility design of our own concept to outline the external shape and internal structure of the vehicle. The last step is to emphasize the storytelling of the design, conceive the user's use scenarios, form the final rendering page, and fully display the design features of your project.

3. Hand painting plays an important role in automobile design. Because from research to final draft, designers need to express their ideas through a large number of hand drawings.
