Why does Dartmouth University rank low in QS?
On December 13, 1769, Dartmouth College was approved by King George III, founded by Reverend Erie Zawilok and served as the dean. The fund came from the donation of Earl II of Dartmouth. In 1819, the administrators of New Hampshire set up a separate institution to manage the college, and changed its name to Dartmouth University, in order to repeal the imperial approval of 1769. However, under the leadership of President Francis Brown, the directors of the college insisted on the validity of the original charter, eliminated the administrative interference of the state government, and maintained the tradition of university autonomy.

His words moved the then Federal Chief Justice, John Marshall, a graduate of William and Mary College, and made Dartmouth College survive to this day. Since then, William and Mary College and Dartmouth College have forged a deep friendship and become the two leading colleges in American comprehensive universities.
