2019 Natural Light Nesting Architecture Workshop

On the upcoming National Day, the "Natural Light x Woodwork Garden" will enter the second stage of the design and construction workshop, continue the first stage of the achievements of this summer architecture study abroad collection, which has been jointly completed by the tutors and students in August, and go to Dagou Village, Lixian County to rebuild a shelter for Jiarong Tibetans.
Tutorial Workshop on Collection of Overseas Architectural Works The design part has just ended. The students who participated in the first phase have designed three sets of products symbiotic with architecture after studying the local human environment and geographical environment in seven days, which makes the original architectural design with only frames more complete, and has completed a super scale model of buildings and products in the Woodwork Garden.

This year's National Day Golden Week, we will set off again. The construction site of the tutoring workshop for the collection of architectural overseas works is still located in Dagou Village, three hours away from the urban area of Chengdu. In this blue sky, white clouds and green forest, we will build a shelter together with many excellent architects.

After multiple investigations and repeated discussions, this year we still continue the spirit of "no disturbance" last year, and build a new light wood structure building on a big stone where the local herdsmen once cooked and barbecued. Put the shelter gently in the mountain, continue the mission of this stone, and provide shelter and warmth for more herdsmen and tourists.
Nesting building site selection this year
Compared with last year's tutorial workshop on overseas architectural works, this year's edition of the shelter 2.0 will be a symbiosis of environment and people, environment and architecture. According to the custom of the local people, everyone cooks by the big stone. We focus on this custom and make a perfect symbiosis between the building and the big stone, so that the local people can have two more functional "stones" at the same time. Therefore, the shelter to be built this year will be more introverted and inclusive in structure.
Last year's construction process
At the same time, since last year's buildings were built for Jiarong Tibetans, we will take a broader view of this tutorial workshop on overseas architectural works. This year's architecture will not only aim at local Tibetans, but also take into account the needs of tourists, herdsmen and other people who go up the mountain. It will use products to improve the architecture itself, achieve the symbiosis of products and buildings, and enable people who enter the building to experience the feelings of building in the process of using products. The frame structure of the building itself can restore the local ecological scenery to the greatest extent and achieve the symbiosis between the building and the environment.
This means that we will face greater challenges this year! In this nest building workshop, you will follow our tutor and architect team to complete a construction plan full of fun and unknown difficulties, and experience the fun of outdoor carpentry construction.
Achievements from the tutoring workshop of overseas architectural works collection:
1. Enjoy the beautiful local natural scenery and experience the simple ethnic customs of Jiarong Tibetan.
2. Participate in the complete construction process, and build a wooden structure building between snow mountains and grasslands.
3. Know light wood structure buildings (such as single or multi story building structures composed of wood frame walls, floors and roof systems made of standard wood and wood based structural plates)
4. Be familiar with the woodworking process and the use of various manual and electric tools. (such as mitre saw, band saw, hand-held circular saw, chain saw, Japanese saw, carpenter's chisel, etc.)
